MR JACK FEELS THE COLD
I couldn’t resist this next post. My poor wee pup needs a coat. He sits at the coal fire shivering- so there you go, the second item we should consider adding to our collection.
More to the point, I have made a plan of the stages of our project. As you know I am an art and design lecturer as well as a trained and practicing designer. I am more than happy to share with you, the process I use to design. So please get involved in the project and make this an exciting learning venture for us all. The more the merrier.
Here is the plan. Follow the Highland Crafters blog and watch our collection grow.
RESEARCH INVESTIGATION STAGE
Post 1-Market research
Research the market and collect imagery. Post images, ideas up on the Pro board with associated links. Comment on each others ideas. What products would make an exciting collection?
- Dog coats
- Matching cushions
- Dog blankets
- Dog beds
- Dog shoes
Post 2- Visualise ideas
Make drawings. This could be tracing and colouring. Again post up and discuss.
Select yarns and colour. All members need to work to the same theme. Think of the Highland Crafters Handwriting
Post 3- Knit swatches
Discuss stitch texture and colour combination
Post 4- Shape
This is where makers start to design patterns and or products. This is about problem solving and supporting each other to make designs on paper become a reality.
Post 5- Produce final pattern and or product
Post 6- Exhibit your work
